Women on Wheels in Nepal
10 day Mountain Bike Tour Guided by Women for Women and like minded men.
Though we like to think life is all smooth flow and fun features like a mountain bike park, it is not and neither is Nepal and the trails here which makes it the PERFECT place to come and hone your mountain bike skills on Nepal’s natural trails. We create a friendly and fun enviroment to help you develop your skills and enjoy the ride without the pressure to keep up.
This trip is the brainchild of a Ladies Mountain League and Himalayan Single Track. Through the efforts of Ladies Mountain League – a community set up to empower Nepalese girls through outdoors ports, that facilitates events and activities we where able to discover Usha Khanal and Roja K.C two young and talented female mountain bikers in Nepal.
Himalayan Single Track is an experienced Mountain Bike Tour specialist in Nepal, over the years our clientele is almost exclusively male. We often get inquires from single female travelers wishing to join groups of like minded mountain bikers, and now we hope to make that a reality to them by training the Usha and Roja as guides and opening up regular group joining trips for women. While we don’t want to be exclusive to women only, like minded men are welcome to join these trips. The idea is just to create a non-intimidating enviroment for women to ride in and learn some skills and to create safe groups for Nepalese women to lead as part of their own journey to become Mountain Bike Leaders.
The mountain bike guide industry in Nepal is dominated by men, so there are many challenges involved with empowering women to step up as leaders in this enviroment. British cycling representative Al Seaton came out to Nepal in May 2017 to train the girls and other HST guides as Mountain Bike Leaders, putting both girls on the path to a career in the industry, which lead us to creating this trip and offering departure dates in Autumn 2017.
