Enduro Day Trips in the Kathmandu Valley
Enduro is the newest thing hitting the mountain bike scene and we cannot help but think the word “Enduro” was invented in Nepal. This country is perfect for it! So if you love mountain biking and have a spare day in the Valley, let us know and join one of our Enduro style mountain biking day trips. With 90% of our guiding team finishing inside the top ten in the 2017/2018 Asian Enduro Series we have no shortage of quality guides to take you on the trips.
Head to Nagarkot, the home of “Asian Enduro Series” held in April every year. The trails here vary in difficulty and distance, but they are all fun. The tour includes a full day shuttle, breakfast in Nagarkot, lunch and is guided by HST’s enduro riders Santosh Rai and Prabin Rai.
A long shuttle takes you through the morning streets to the top of the highest hill in the Valley, Phulchowki. We have some coffee and then a nice jeep track warm up before hitting the single track jungle section. This is perhaps the longest trail we offer. It rolls down through the jungle out onto the ridge line, has some tricky stone stair sections and then heads into the rice fields and old villages back into the city.
Shivapuri is the sprawling National Park that hems in the entire Northern section of the Kathmandu Valley. The trails comprise of rolling single tracks, fast down hill sections and some climbing on this ride. We drive up to Dhadagoan, its a easy drive of about 40mins. Enter the National Park and get ready to ride. We have a short pedaling section of 10 mins of so into the Jungle onto a trail called 30mins of Heaven. Its a fast flowing single track of about 6km. After this we climb uphill on a sandy and rocky trail for about 3km. When then hit the ridge line trail called the Heli Pad that starts of super technical and ends with a nice fast flowing section which includes the big drop called Widow Maker. Pedal back through the small alleys and back roads of Kathmandu to our office.
