Mountain Bike Rides in Kathmandu
Kathmandu is the vibrant, sprawling and culturally rich capital city of Nepal. With streets clogged with traffic, noise and dust it might not seem like the ideal place for mountain biking, but within 15 to 20 minutes pedaling from the tourist district Thamel you can reach the rolling rice fields and community forests of the Valley Rim.
Not only that, riding in the city is an adventure within itself, dirt roads, random holes and bumps, road widening, it is like an ever changing Pump Track.
Himalayan Single Track offers a range of full, half day, morning and night rides that cover downhill, enduro, XC, pleasure and sightseeing.
If you are just in Kathmandu for a short time, make sure you try once mountain biking with Himalayan Single Track.
Check out some of what we offer on one of the following pages:-
Relaxed – From an early morning ride to a half day jaunt into the rice fields or city sightseeing ride.
Intermediate – For regular bikers on holiday who are missing their bikes back home.
Think Your a Pro? – Are you super fit and skilled, then join one of these rides lead by Aayman Tamang, he might be small, but he’s fit and not very often off the podium in XC races. Did we mention he’s raced in a World Championship and the Swiss Epic, Trans Alps and Multiple times Yak Attack?
Enduro – A selection of shuttle assisted enduro day trips on the Kathmandu Valley Rim
If you don’t want to do a full day, ask us about morning rides and night rides.
We also offer shop morning rides most Mondays and Thursdays in season which are free to join if you have your own bike (we also offer rentals) and a great way to meet the local mountain biking community as well as Ladies rides on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings.
For more information on day trips, send us an email and let us know your riding style and fitness level. email@example.com
Day Tours depart from our workshop and hire bike station inside the Annapurna Market Complex in Saaghumti, Thamel. Ride length varies from 3 hours to 7 hours depending on which ride you choose. Hire bikes and a helmet are included in the price of our day trips as well as the guide, first aid kit, spare parts and tools. SPD pedals and shoes can be hired separately if required. Bikes have bottle cages and we can supply water bottles if needed. You should carry your own small day pack with a jacket, sun-cream, buff, sunglasses and camera if required. Hotel pickups and shuttle can be provided on demand, ask us for a quotation. Unless a shuttle has been requested, our day trips all ride out of the workshop. Kathmandu is a thriving busy city, there are sections of traffic, dust and mud due to poor road infrastructure. Our routes are chosen to limit the city ride time and avoid main traffic areas. While on the outside, Kathmandu traffic looks chaotic, when you are riding in it and going with the flow most people think sits fun!
