Not everyone has time to go on a multi day mountain bike adventure into the Himalaya’s. So we have come up with these overnight mountain bike trips to get you out and about in the Kathmandu Valley allowing you to experience the best trails, scenery and culture on offer.

Uplift Me (Enduro)
This is a fun way to explore the heights and sights of the Kathmandu Valley. Two days of vehicle supported Enduro riding on the valley rim. Day one takes us to Phulchowki, the highest peak in the Valley. Rip the jungle trails down to the rice fields and a little Urban single track to the ancient city of Bhaktapur. Have a late lunch before driving to Nagarkot. From Nagarkot sit back, enjoy a cold beer and watch the sunset over the Himalaya. Next day hit the trails of Nagarkot used in the Asian Enduro Series before returning to Kathmandu.
Himalayan Sunset (Intermediate)
Nagarkot is the most famous hill station in the Kathmandu Valley. A popular destination that boasts simply breath-taking views of the Himalaya from Everest in the East to Annapurna in the West. The ride there takes us along a section of Urban single tracks before climbing up to Changu Nayaran, one of the oldest Temples in the Valley. Cycle along the ridge through the Thankot Forest before rejoining the main road for the last 10km climb to Nagarkot. The second day takes us mostly downhill along jeep trails to Bhaktapur from where we pick up single tracks through the suburban farm lands back into the heart of Kathmandu. On the first day we enjoy sunset over the Himalayan from the balcony of our hotel.
Jungle Time (XC Intermediate)
This tour is for riders looking to escape the hectic city. We drive to Kakani, it takes about an hour and a half to reach this scenic hill station, its also famous for growing Strawberries. We have some tea and then enter the Shivapuri National Park heading to the famous “Scar Route Trail”, a nice jungle Single Track. We traverse the valley rim through the Jungle all the way to Dhadagoan where we stay overnight at Shivapuri Cottages overlooking the city and enjoying the relaxing Spa and massage service. Next day we re-enter the National Park and ride on wards to 30mins of Heaven and then the famous Heli Pad Trail before having lunch at Bouldanath Stupa, the largest of its kind in Asia.
A Cultural Touch (Relaxed)
This easy ride takes us through the old market place of Assan and onward to Patan. Here we explore the heart and soul of the old city, riding through the lanes and alleys ways. Visit Karma Life center where women are learning the traditional art of wood carving. Ride on wards to Bungamati Trails Initiative, a fun place to ride will levels of trails for all riders, we weave our way through the back lanes and out into the rice fields. We stay over night at the Little Red House in the Rice fields. The next day we rejoin the trail network and head to Khokana and Bungamati to see the local life, wool spinning, wood carving and other cultural aspects of daily life in the Valley before returning to Thamel. This ride is suitable for families.
Overnight trips cover a range of trails and skill levels, so let us know your riding style and fitness beforehand to make sure the trip is the right one for you. The best time of year for these trips is Oct to May, during the monsoon months of June to Sept it can be very hot, wet and slippery, but still ride-able if you don't mind getting muddy and getting a few leeches. With the exception of "Uplift Me" offer two kinds of pricing, one is supported with Baggage Drop and the other is without vehicle support in which case you will need to carry an overnight bag. If you are going unsupported, then just pack light, a rain jacket, a warm change of clothes for the evening and a toothbrush.
