Kathmandu Enduro Style
This exciting mountain biking trip takes in the highlights of downhill and enduro style riding in the Kathmandu Valley. The valley is a chaotic maze of sights, senses and experiences not found anywhere else. And the best thing is that 20 km from the city center lies some of the best trails and single tracks ready for you to rip up!
Day 01 – Welcome to K-Town
Landing in Kathmandu is always exciting, dropping out of the sky onto the battered runway, when you exit the plane you will know you have well and truly left the first world behind. If you are lucky the Himalaya will proudly be marching across the horizon. We collect you from the airport and take you to the Hotel for the night. If you arrive early enough we can stretch the legs with a little urban single track and pedal assisted sightseeing. Enjoy a traditional welcome dinner in Nepal.
Day 02/03 – Rumble in the Jungle
A combination of 4WD Driving adventure and epic single tracks makes up these two days inside Shivapuri National Park. Trails include the fabled “Scar Route” , “30 mins of Heaven”, “Helipad (Upper and Lower) “and “Widow Maker” as well as “Jhule Jaw Dropper.” We are not saying it’s all 100% downhill but we are saying its super fun inside the Jungle. Stay overnight in the tiny village of Chisapani (Cold Water) which boasts some of the very best views of the Himalaya in Nepal! Enjoy a hearty meal of Dhal Bhart(The national fuel of Nepal, Rice and Lentils) and some local rice wine (Raski) or Thungba (Hot Fermented Millet Beer). On the third night we stay Southside around Patan. Enjoy an evening stroll around the ancient city and dinner.
Day 04 – Phulchowki Express
To the south of Kathmandu valley lies a peak taller than the other hills that surround the capital city of Nepal. Towering above the others at 2800 meters is PHULCHOWKI. The hour and a half jeep ride to the top takes us first through the rural fields and villages past Gowdarvi and then creeps slowly up the rubble road through fantastic old growth forest, moss covered rhododendron trees and many species of pines trees, it’s almost like driving into a lost world, considering we are just on the fringes of the sprawling urban utopia of Kathmandu. The drive is one thing….the riding down from there……well that is something even more epic. Full suspension bikes are a must to rip up the dirt, rocks tree routes and hard packed red clay and roll on down to the valley.
The trail is a journey of epic proportions, hugging the ridge with flowing single tracks and small rock gardens. The impeding views of the Himalayas on the northern horizon force the riders to stop, pause suck in the fresh air and admire the views way above the city haze of Kathmandu. There is so much fun to be had here for mountain bikers.
Day 05 – Departure.
Phew it’s all over kids! Pack you bikes and we will send you off to the airport, rest assured you will be back begging for more.
This program is aimed at people who have a short amount of time in Nepal. It features some of the best riding in the valley and we can add ore remove dates to suit you and your riding style. Minimum group size for this is 2 pax. Send us an email to get your Enduro Adventure up and rolling.

WHAT TO RIDE?
This trip is what we would consider suitable for enduro or all mountain full suspension bikes and of course you are always going to be more comfortable on your own bike. 130mm to 150mm travel is recommended. But if you feel it is a hassle to bring your own bike we do rent out Trance X 27.5 2014 Model bikes in Small, Medium and Large.
Drinking water is not included in the price of the trip and you are responsible for your own drinking water. Mineral water in one liter bottles can be brought easily along the biking trail, but for environmental reasons we encourage you to treat your own water. Filtered water is readily available in all hotels and tea houses. You should carry some form of water purification tablet with you. We recommend two 1 liter water bottles or one two to three liter bladder for this trip.
In the Kathmandu Valley temperatures vary according to the time of year, but for the most part days will be hot and sunny and evenings in the hill stations will be cool. From mid September to March the temperatures at night time can get down to zero so bring warm clothes. The months of June to August are warm and wet as its monsoon time and the trails are slippery so no good for riding. Day time temperatures can get up to 38 degrees Celsius in the summer months of March, April and May.
Accommodation along the Kathmandu Valley Trail vary from place to place from simple tea house to four star resorts. All accommodations have hot water, attached bathrooms and electricity. All places except for Chisapani will have WiFi. You will be able to charge devices and batteries in all places.
