ENDURO – Shivapuri & Nagarkot (2 Days, 1 Night)
This trip combines the best of Shivapuri and Nagarkot. First day we drive to Dhadagoan and ride sections of trail called 30 mins of Heaven and Helipad which is a technical ridge line descent. We end the day with a long technical trail down to Sankhu. We shuttle between the end of Helipad and the Sankhu Trail. Stay overnight in Nagarkot and the 2nd day is a full day of enduro riding on the Nagarkot Trails. The trails in Nagarkot vary in distance and difficulty and cover rocks, roots, loose dirt and plenty of single tracks to make any rider happy. At the end of the day drive back to HST. This ride is for intermediate to advanced riders. On the first day section there is some pedaling uphill for around 3 km in the jungle. Most of the rest of the trails are downhill.
XC – Shivapuri National Park (2 Days, 1 Night)
Shivapuri National Park covers the northern rim of the Kathmandu Valley and is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The riding here offers great appeal to Cross Country riders. The climbs are big, the trails have good flow and the descents make your efforts well worth it!
You will be surprised about the density of the Jungle, so close to a big city. While the ride out starts in traffic (Shuttle is also Possible), and then climbs for almost 900 meters to the entry point, once you are in the park you will experience complete solitude, peace and harmony.
There are multiple options for overnight rides inside the park. Kakani a Hill Station on the northern edge of the park is a big road climb of 27 km from Kathmandu followed by 15 km of undulating single track through the Jungle to Dhadgaon where we stop overnight. The second day is some climbing and a lot of descending in the jungle. We pop out of the park and ride back through rice fields and urban trails to the city. Total riding distance around 68km.
Chisapani is a small village tucked away behind the park. The views of the Himalaya from here are really good. This village is the gateway to the langtang and Gosaikunda Trekking routes. To get here for cyclists is a short ride through the city and then a long climb up and over the National Park along a Jeep track. The trail follows the Nishmumati River and is quiet tranquil. You might come across a few local trucks, but nothing major. Stay overnight in a local hotel. The second day offers a couple of options to get back. Via an undulating fire road to Jhule and Mulkharka or by exploring some single tracks and jungle riding. Over all the round trip is about 55 km with some 1000 meters of climbing.
